The collapse of parent education in Los Angeles USD was unfortunate. The loss of parent involvement in children’s education was one of the consequences of closing the adult division’s parent education department. The Parent Ed. Agency was born out of an effort to keep Los Angeles USD teachers employed during the CA budget crisis and cuts to spending in education- AND to keep parent engagement alive.

The Parent Ed. Agency now stands as a referral agency to supply quality teachers for those organizations and school districts who need to fulfill their parent engagement needs. The agencies modest success is based upon referring highly qualified instructors who are state credentialed, certificated, or college level instructors, rather than following the trend of using trainees earning minimum wage-while supplying scripted curriculum.

The feedback from schools regarding their satisfaction with the quality of the teachers we refer, makes us believe that we are doing something right. We see that the need for parent engagement is not going away. We will continually work toward improving the service that we provide and the level of performance of the teachers whom we refer.

All of the teachers are skilled in use of learning management systems and Zoom.
